At McDade Roberts accountants we have a team of 40 people across 4 offices in Preston, Longridge, Bamber Bridge and Garstang. We are a busy team so we are always keen to recruit the right people who share our friendly customer service ethic and we are also keen to train and grow our existing staff to continue to meet the needs of our clients.

One of our specialist areas is payroll and we have a dedicated payroll department who many of our clients delegate their payroll headaches to. One question our payroll department sometimes get asked is about the Apprenticeship Levy so we recently had a meeting with the team at Blackburn College to find out more about how they can help local businesses in this area with Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Levy

Does your business pay an Apprenticeship Levy? If so, then it's likely that you will have unspent Levy funds that could be used to upskill your existing workforce and bring new talent into your business.

If you don't pay the Apprenticeship Levy then the government will pay up to 100% of the costs for 16-18 year olds and 19+ up to 95% from April 2019.

Your Apprenticeship levy can be used to train and develop staff at all levels. Increasingly, businesses are accessing their Levy account to deliver Degree and professional updating in Management (ILM / CMI), Human Resources (CIPD) Procurement (CIPS) and Accounting (AAT).

Your Levy funds expire 24 months after they enter your account. If you are considering making the most of this opportunity and need more information or have questions, contact Blackburn College to discuss your requirements and how they can help. To develop your workforce contact, Hannah Baker – Business Development Manager (Apprenticeships) on 01254 292500 business@blackburn.ac.uk
