Today we interviewed Carol Nevins on what makes her tick. Carol has been with McDade Roberts accountants since 1998 and retires in April 2022 so we are also celebrating her 24 years with the company.

She will be much missed but we look forward to seeing more knit bombing and carnival costumes in the future to cheer us up after she leaves.

Job: Retired Practice Manager, Grandma to be, Carnival enthusiast

Where have you worked before?

1st job - Whitbread West Pennines Brewery, Blackburn from office junior, purchase ledger clerk, loan account clerk, Product master clerk, Database Supervisor. Cheap beer, just saying!

2nd job – Sweet shop, Blackburn. Child bearing years.

3rd job – Civil servant working on Benefit Enquiry Line and previously War Pensions

4th job – McDade Roberts Accountants from 10 staff to now.

1998 I started at McDade Roberts with Philip and Alan as partners.

Qualifications: B A (Hons) Business Administration, Advanced Certificate in Marketing,

Lots of O Levels and CSEs (that's pre-GCSE's)

Any job specialisms: Multi-tasking

Funniest moment at work: I stood up in my first senior management meeting and said 'My name is Carol and I'm an alcoholic!' Seemed to break the ice nicely.

Pets: A 10 year old fish – Species –Dollar called Bob.

Proudest moment: Passing my driving test 1st time, getting a degree in my 30s, giving birth, kids achievements, speaking at mum's funeral.

What you wanted to be when you were 8 years old: a lorry driver

Hobbies/Interests: Aran knits, knitted toys, Carnival costume making, Knit bombing

Favourites -

Football team: Nah.
Film: Love the classics – Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Emma and most Disney films – Little Mermaid, Robin Hood, Ratatouille, Jungle Book, The Lion King
Song: Sit Down by James (funeral song and everybody has to sit on the floor and hold hands. I'd like to see everyone getting up after that one. Lol) Love Carol King songs, bit of Quo, Elton, Dire Straits, Buddy Holly, Mud, Bay City Rollers. Everybody did, it was the 70s!!
Food: Yep, most things but love vege, Chinese foods, I think chocolate is overrated and would rather have a bag of crisps or nuts.

Who would play your part in a movie? Helen Mirren

If you could be an animal for the day, what would it be? A high soaring bird such as an eagle

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do? Fly to the Caribbean or Maldives and stay until I got bored.
